Consider Taking A Staycation

,

Summer vacation plans have been cancelled across the country and many people are transitioning their long-distance travels into local staycations.  According to a recent survey of travelers, 60% of Americans plan to take a staycation this summer instead of flying.

Here are three reasons why you should consider a staycation:

SAVE MONEY & TIME

  • You can expect to cut the larger expenses of long-distance travel such as airfare, baggage fees, and other transportation costs. Staycations tend to be shorter than a typical vacation so you will also be saving money on things like pet sitters and house keepers. You will also save countless hours of travel to and from airports and other downtime between scheduled activities so you can spend your time on the things that matter most!

BE A ‘LOCAL TOURIST’

  • You can be a tourist in your town! Sometimes we tend to take for granted that we live in one of the most diverse states for travel lovers! You can spend the morning hiking trails in National Forests and State Parks and with just a few hours’ drive be relaxing at the beach for a beautiful sunset! Take some time to experience and learn about the diverse history and culture of this beautiful place we call home. Staying close to home also helps to support our local economy and small businesses that have been affected over the past few months.

ENJOY SAFER ACTIVITIES

  • Taking a staycation will keep you away from crowded mass transit like air travel and trains. Local businesses and hotels are taking extreme caution to protect their guests. Still, many travelers are choosing the road life over a room. RV Share says rentals are up 81% year-over-year, and up 1600% since April alone. There are endless opportunities for outdoor adventures in Florida that will reduce contact with others for a more at-ease experience.

Some of my top staycation places in Florida include Singer Island, Hutchinson Island, Ocala National Park and Ginnie Springs. The list goes on, so if you need any suggestions, don’t hesitate to ask me!
